Ben grew up going to FCA camp in Black Mountain, NC in the summer as a youngster and has been involved with FCA on the middle school, high school, and college level. He is a son of a college coach (Dr. Elliot Johnson) and a former all-american college baseball player (LeTourneau University '99). Immediately after college he went to work for FCA full time in Austin, Texas. Along with serving the schools and communities in the area, Ben was the team chaplain for the Round Rock Express and UT baseball teams for 7 years. In 2006, Ben completed his first daily devotional book, Tools of the Trade: Competing on God's Team. Ben married Katherine Chamblee in November of 2004. Katherine is a Baylor University alum of 2002 as well as a former BU softball player. She serves as the sports chaplain at Baylor (and full-time mom as of 7/23/08 to Ava Claire) working with the female coaches and athletes. Ben took over as the Heart of Texas FCA Director in July 2007 and the Johnson family resides in Waco, TX.
